Her journey began with a passion for music that led her to Tshwane University of Technology, where she majored in Opera Performance. Since then, Ntebo has captivated audiences across continents, sharing the richness of South African heritage through song. Raised in a family that embraced storytelling through music, Ntebo grew up surrounded by the melodies of her ancestors. Her exceptional talent was recognized nationally when she won Best Performing Soprano at South Africa’s National High School Competition in 2005. This led to a scholarship to study Opera Performance both at the University of Cape Town and Tshwane University of Technology, where she refined her craft. She also worked at the State Theatre Opera in Tshwane from 2012 to 2014, further honing her skills on a professional stage.
Beyond opera, she found inspiration in the powerful voices of Miriam Makeba, Letta Mbulu, and Sibongile Khumalo, shaping her signature sound, one that bridges the gap between classical technique and the soul of African storytelling.
Ntebo’s career is a testament to resilience, artistry, and purpose. Ntebo has graced the stages of the G20 Summit hosted by the World Bank, the South African Embassy’s Oliver Tambo Centenary Celebration, the Miss Africa USA Pageant at Howard University, and Maryland’s inaugural Pan-African State Festival, among many others.
Her 2024 live album release , Transkei to the World, was a resounding success, marking a major step in her artistic journey. That same year, Ntebo’s voice became part of history when she was invited to sing the South African national anthem at the Marylanders Cry Freedom: Civil Rights At Home and Abroad exhibition in Baltimore, an event commemorating the 40th anniversary of Maryland’s divestment from apartheid. The event was attended by U.S. Representative Kweisi Mfume and Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott. Adding to her growing list of milestones, Ntebo took center stage at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., where she performed the U.S. national anthem before the Washington Wizards game on March 6, 2025.
Currently, she is starring in the critically acclaimed play Kunene and The King, a production that explores the impact of apartheid through storytelling and music. This marks both her debut in U.S. national theater and her first acting role. She shares the stage with the legendary Dr. John Kani and is directed by Ruben. Additionally, Ntebo serves as the official music consultant for the play. The show runs until March 23, 2025, marking yet another milestone in her mission to use the arts as a platform for cultural exchange.
She is currently working on new music that fuses her classical roots with contemporary African sounds, bringing a fresh and evocative soundscape to her listeners. As she navigates new projects, performances, and international collaborations, her goal remains the same: to tell her story, honor her heritage, and inspire audiences worldwide.
